Process, Trends, Practice – A conversation with (up to 3) artists regarding their artistic process – interaction with different media, development of ideas in their work, and their perspectives on audiences and the spaces in which (their)art is shown.
Day two: Saturday, 18 November ‘17
Morning session: 11.00 AM – 12.30 PM
Art education in Kenya: the evolution of arts education in Kenya within and outside tertiary institutions; curricula, cultural reference, relationship between content and current art practice.
Afternoon session: 2.00 PM – 4.00 PM
The business of art: making money from one’s art; intellectual property and copyright, business practices, terms of engagement between artists and dealers, galleries, collectors, building an art-world ecosystem.
Day three: Sunday, 19 November ‘17
Afternoon session: 2:00 – 4:00
Tracking the development of modern/contemporary art in Kenya: a look at the evolution of art in Kenya into what it is today, looking at notable artists and their contributions, institutions, key cultural moments and references, leading up to the state of the art in Kenya today.
